We met my mom up there, and we were one of fifteen families that finalized adoptions yesterday. We were lucky to be the third family called up so we didn't have to wait long. We went up before the judge and were sworn in. We then answered a few questions in front of the judge. The judge asked us a couple of questions and then he pronounced that Delanie was our forever daughter! This is a monumental day for adoptive families. It's the day where all of the love that you have for your child, although they have been YOUR child from the beginning is recognized before the state and you can finally breathe. Although TPR has been signed, your love for this child is indistinguishable from that of a biological child, and you have bonded with you child there is always that niggling feeling in the back of your mind of the what ifs. Standing before that judge for no more than five minutes, answering a few questions, and promising to be a little baby's Mommy forever is truly life changing. You are torn between yelling for joy and weeping with sheer happiness as the judge says that we are forever responsible for this child according to the law.
Here are few pictures from our day.
Us before going to see the judge.
Miss Delanie is her pretty little dress.
Delanie and her Dollie. She loves to play with her Dollie.
The judge had stuffed animals all around the court room. We each got to pick one after we were done with him.
The four of us and the judge.
Delanie was charming the judge.
Us afterward with Delanie's stuffed animal. We found a cow! And it has a certificate to name a star, so Delanie her very own star for her adoption day!
We went to celebrate at the Cheesecake Factory once we were done at court.
Yum...Red Velvet Cheesecake!

HI there. I am Brenda Murphy and worked with your Mom at CHS. Last year I left for a job at Tarleton. But I still watch your blog from time to time. Tonight I am getting caught up and wanted to tell you how happy I am for you and your family. What a beautiful blessing.
