I have no idea why I wasn't smiling better. I guess we both let up the smiles after the first camera went off. I remember having a weight lifted off of my shoulders, and being so excited after we signed the papers. And baby makes three! She will probably wear a lot of purple being that it is her Mommy's favorite color!
We jumped in the car and headed south east toward Comanche. We were planning on surprising our family that evening with Delanie's arrival. Craig normally always eats on Monday evening with someone in my family, so we used that as our excuse to get everyone to come meet us at the hotel. We worked it out with the hotel to get the conference room and Craig picked up chicken to feed everyone. Once the parents, grandparents, and Uncle Jordan were there Craig called me to come down the to conference room. Everyone was milling about and I walked in pushing the stroller with the two umbrellas up. Delanie was wrapped up in her Mickey blanket (which I made). Needless to say the stroller was quickly swarmed. My mom kept asking if we were for real and if it was really ours. Dad said he figured it out and Wanda said she figured we only had news of a baby. But we were able to surprise Dad with Delanie's middle name, Louise, which was his mother's middle name.
After the initial introductions were made, the new grandparents began calling their siblings and my cousins to run by the motel. Delanie met about 20 of her family members that night. We were so excited that so many of our family could run up at the last minute to meet her. Here are a few pictures from her reveal party!
The new grandparents don't know what they want to be called. They better come up with something, no telling what Lanie will come up with!
Delanie with Bobo & Meme. This is their 9 great-grandchild.
Uncle Jordan and his girlfriend Elise.
The new Mom & Dad. Well, Mom is looking a little rough after 7 hours on the road with a new born!
We had planned to have the same sort of surprise for Craig's family on Tuesday evening. But when we got home, Craig's mom was sick and our niece Samantha was fighting allergies. Our plans for a surprise reveal had to be drastically altered. We called Craig's mom and dad over to the house and asked them to go to the french doors in the living-room. I was standing there holding Delanie so they could see her through the glass. His mom was extremely shocked and just kept asking where we got it! Craig told them about our plan to surprise everyone, but them having lots of germs derailed that problem. Craig proceeded to tell his mom that he was sorry, but she couldn't hold the baby or touch the baby. She said ok, but then tried to open the door to get to Delanie. It was too funny because Craig locked the deadbolt on her. Well, it was sad and funny. We did the same thing with his sister and then he called his brother on the phone. So Delanie's first meeting with Craig's side didn't go as we planned, but what in life really does? It was still extremely fun to surprise everyone with our little angel.
