We're Approved!!

We were notified yesterday that we have been formally approved by the adoption agency!  Yea!!!

What does this mean???  More waiting......I know, I know-you should be on our side of the fence.

But at last this means we can be shown to birthmothers.  Basically, the agency has a list of "situations" that we would be comfortable adopting from.  This ranges from birthmother activities during pregnancy to the amount of contact post placement that we are willing to accept.

When the agency has a birthmother that falls within our criteria they will show our profile along with any other waiting adoptive families that also meet the criteria.  (They do not notify us when we are and aren't being shown.  For which I am glad, because that takes off a whole different set of anxieties.)  The birthmother is then allowed to read our letter written to her and see our photo album about ourselves.  The birthmother can then pick a set of adoptive parents or they can request meetings with ones that they like in order to get a better feel for the couple/family.  The birthmother then will make a decision upon who they would like their child placed with.  Sometimes this process happens within the last few weeks or days of the pregnancy and sometimes an adoption plan is made at the hospital shortly after a birthmother has given birth.

So, this means that we could get a call tomorrow or we could be waiting for months for a child to come into our home.  All of this is completely in God's hands.  We both have faith that a child will be coming home, but the timing is at His mercy.  So now we wait and pray.  Prayers for our birthmother and for the agency, and peace for us during this process!
